Establishing a Fund
If it is true that every culture depends on philanthropy and non-profit organizations to provide essential elements of a civil society, then Central Georgia is indeed fortunate to have a community foundation that is leading the way. For over a decade, the Community Foundation of Central Georgia has grown from a beginning corpus of $750,000 for administrative start-up costs to a present total of over $43 million in assets. This phenomenal growth is no accident. It has come about because many community leaders saw the need for a charitable giving vehicle that all citizens could participate. These leaders, along with a group of generous donors, have led this vibrant organization to its current status. It began as a way to make an investment in the larger community; it continues to gain support from a broad base of donors because the management of that investment has been excellent.
Starting a fund is simple and the staff at the Community Foundation of Central Georgia will help every step of the wayfrom your initial gift, to the development of your charitable giving statement, to building a relationship with your successor advisors. The staff has answers to questions you may not have even considered. They want you to be pleased with your decision to become a philanthropist. Personalized attention, proactive ideas and a quick response to your needs and concerns are everyday attributes of the professional staff. They help make giving a pleasure and will advise you at your convenience and as often as you feel the need so that your wishes are met and your charitable and financial goals honored.
The Finance Committee of the Board of Directors is charged with oversight of the investments of the Foundation. A list of members of the Finance Committee and a list of our investment managers and their fees may be obtained by calling the Foundation’s office at (478) 750-9338.
